Kaamos Cure
"The fish is swift, small-needing, vague yet clear,
A cold, sweet, silver life, wrapped in round waves..."
-Leigh Hunt, The Spirit
The world outside my home is buried in dark and snow. The waters stopped moving months ago. It's enough to make a fisherman lose his spirit. But a trip South and some open water have reminded me why I fish in the first place: there is life beneath the surface. And the waiting is always rewarded.
Patience always proves there is life beneath the surface.
Thanks to TUG for the advice and to OPAX for the Finnish lesson.
And happy first birthday to TMF.

We're sure glad you could quench your desires here near our house. Whose fish are you holding?
I'm glad I got to be a part of the fishing experience (by helping you pick out the right flies at the shop just before the trip :)).
I am sure the MF could fish anywhere he landed
1 year. After bugging you for probably a year before that I got the email to check out The Mad Fishicist.
Neat TMF--great photos--wonderful time.
a year after getting an internet connection.
Happy Birthday TMF.
One of my wife's sisters and her family live above the Polar Circle in Enontekiö, Finland. There the Polar Night (or Kaamos) is very real.
They drove 300 km (or 186 miles) to do their Christmas shopping in Rovaniemi just because there is only single shop in Enontekiö where they live. I talked with his man about the importance of internet connection in such isolated area.
